What to Expect at your First Lesson
We love having new riders at our facility.
We’ve established a community here, & we know you will feel at home when you drive up.
The first lesson always involves lots of safety. The goal is to give you this grand experience as safely as we possibly can.
You’ll groom the horses & we’ll discuss parts of the saddle, how horses think, & answer any questions.
Riding begins in the arena. You will learn how to:
-
back, turn, & stop a horse, &
-
handle emergency situations.
Attire:
Boots- Protect your feet from the horse.
Jeans-Protect your legs from the saddle.
Helmet- Not required but suggested. You can purchase these online through Amazon.
Lesson Schedule:
Lessons are taught Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays beginning at 3:30 PM.
They last for 1 hour.
Expect 10-15 mins worth of grooming & saddling along with 40-45 mins of riding.
(The first few lessons will be 1 on 1. As your horsemanship improves, you will move to group lessons)
Mindset:
Come with an open, positive mindset.
Horses are not robots, so it can take several lessons before you perfect your cues & your confidence.
Good, skilled riders make riding look so easy, so give yourself some grace.
Learning to be a horseman/horsewoman takes dedication & consistency, just like any other sport.
Horses:
We have horses & mules that will help build your confidence, but if you own a horse, we prefer you bring him.
Whether your goal is to shave time off your barrel pattern or ride for the first time, we can help.
Looking forward to meeting you soon!
